Garbage, recycling and yard waste collections to remain on normal schedule

City and County of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day, the local governments have announced.
Garbage/recycling and yard waste collection schedules will not be affected by the holiday, they stress in news releases.
Holiday hours of operation at City of Sarasota facilities will vary, as follows, on Memorial Day:
- Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex, located at 2650 Waldemere St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Lido Pool, located at 400 Benjamin Franklin Drive, will be closed.
- Payne Park Tennis Center, located at 2050 Adams Lane, will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, located at 1845 34th St., will be open from 6 to 10 a.m.
• The box office of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, located at 777 N. Tamiami Trail, will be closed.

The City of Sarasota, in conjunction with the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee, will host the annual Memorial Day parade beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 25, in downtown Sarasota, the release also notes.
The parade will start at the intersection of Main Street and Orange Avenue and conclude at Chaplain J.D. Hamel Park, which is located at the intersection of Main Street and Gulfstream Avenue. There, a ceremony will start at approximately 11 a.m., the release adds. The public is encouraged to attend the event.
County closures
The following county facilities will be closed on Monday, May 25, the county news release says:
- All library branches and offices.
- Breeze Transit bus routes, Breeze Plus service, ticket outlets and the Breeze administrative office.
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department indoor recreation centers and nature centers.
- Knight Trail Park Pistol and Rifle Range in Nokomis.
- The Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center and administrative office , as well as The Re-Uz-It Shop, which stands at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, in Sarasota.
- Venice Chemical Collection Center, which is located at 250 S. Jackson Road in Venice).
- The administrative office at the Central County Landfill, which are located at 4000 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis.
- The Public Utilities Department’s cashier windows and customer service offices.
- The University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension Office in Sarasota County.
- Sarasota County Tax Collector offices.
- Sarasota County Property Appraiser’s Office.
- Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections offices.
- Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller offices. Services may be accessed online at SarasotaClerk.com.
- Florida Department of Health offices in Sarasota County.
County facilities that will be open on Monday, May 25
- Breeze OnDemand service, the 77 Siesta Islander trolley on Siesta Key, and the 78 Bay Runner trolley in the city of Sarasota.
- Drop-off and disposal at the Central County Landfill (4000 Knights Trail Road) and the Citizens’ Convenience Center (4010 Knights Trail Road) in Nokomis will take place at their regular hours.
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department trails, unstaffed nature preserves, parks and beaches will remain open for regular hours. This includes The Legacy Trail and outdoor conservation areas.
