Garbage, recycling and yard waste collections to remain on normal schedule

City and County of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 17, in observance of Presidents Day, the local governments have announced.
Garbage, recycling and yard waste collection schedules will not be affected by the holiday in either the city or the unincorporated areas of the county, news releases say.
The following is information about city services on Presidents Day:
- The Bay Runner trolley will operate at its regular hours, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex, located at 2650 Waldemere St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Lido Pool, located at 400 Benjamin Franklin Drive, will be closed.
- Payne Park Tennis Center, located at 2050 Adams Lane, will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, located at 1845 34thSt., will be open from 6 to 10 a.m.
- The box office of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, located at 777 N. Tamiami Trail, will be open at its regular hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The City Commission meeting that would have been scheduled for Monday will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, in the Commission Chambers of City Hall, which stands at 1565 First St.

County facilities to be closed on Monday, Feb. 17
- Libraries and Historical Resources’ branches and the office.
- Breeze Transit administrative offices and ticket outlets.
- The University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension Office in Sarasota County.
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources’ recreation centers and the Knight Trail Park pistol and rifle range.
- The Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center, administrative office and The Re-Uz-It Shop located at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, as well as the Central County Landfill administrative office standing at 4000 Knights Trail Road. The Jackson Road Chemical Collection Center located at 250 S. Jackson Road in Venice remains closed indefinitely because of the impacts from Hurricane Ian.
- Offices of Sarasota County Tax Collector Mike Moran.
- The Office of Sarasota County Property Appraiser Bill Furst.
- Offices of Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner.
- Offices of Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller Karen Rushing. Services may be accessed online, though, at www.SarasotaClerk.com.
Operating at normal hours on Monday, Feb. 17
- Facilities of the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County.
- Breeze Transit routes, OnDemand and Plus services.
- The disposal operations at the Central County Landfill, which stands at 4000 Knights Trail Road, and the Citizens’ Convenience Center located at 4010 Knights Trail Road — both in Nokomis — will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All customers unloading by hand should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing.
