Garbage and recycling collections will not be affected
City of Sarasota administrative offices and most Sarasota County Government offices, including libraries and the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, will be closed on Monday, May 29, in observance of Memorial Day, the city and county have announced.
City and county garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk waste collection will not be impacted, news releases point out.
Additionally, the landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis will be open, but the administrative office will be closed, a county news release notes. The Citizens Convenience Center at 4010 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis will be open, as well, the release adds.
However, the Chemical Collection Centers on Bee Ridge and Jackson roads will be closed, the county release points out.
No Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) bus service will be provided on Memorial Day, but the Siesta Key Breeze trolley will operate from 8 a.m. to midnight, the county release says.
Most of Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department’s recreation centers will be closed; however, the Payne Park Tennis Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the county release adds.
Regarding other city facilities, the staff has announced these hours for Memorial Day:
- Bobby Jones Golf Club: Regular hours will be observed — 6:45 a.m. to 5:50 p.m.
- Children’s Fountain in Bayfront Park: Regular summer hours will begin — 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Lido Pool: Regular hours will be observed. (The pool is closed every Monday.)
- Robert L. Taylor Community Complex: closed.
