County planning and development director to be guest at Village Association meeting

Rob Lewis, director of planning and community development for Sarasota County, and Jon Mast, representing the Business Center Operations office in Lewis’ department, will be special guests during the Tuesday, Aug. 7 meeting of the Siesta Key Village Association.

In his position, Lewis oversees the Zoning and Code Enforcement offices, both of which are integrally involved in issues of importance to Siesta Village businesses.

Lewis’ staff also has been working with the Florida Department of Transportation to figure out a new design for signage to commemorate Siesta Public Beach’s No. 1 status in 2011-12.

Among other topics on the SKVA meeting agenda are updates on the timeline for hiring a new Village maintenance contractor and county officials’ efforts to provide lighting for Village crosswalks.

The Village Association meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Daiquiri Deck Raw Bar, 5250 Ocean Blvd., Siesta Key.
