Sunday, Nov. 30 is the deadline to pay Sarasota county property taxes and receive a 4% discount, Tax Collector Mike Moran and his staff have announced.

With the Tax Collector’s Offices closed Nov. 26 through Nov. 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday, payment options are as follows to receive the 4% discount, a news release explains:

  • In person or in a 24-hour drop box on Monday, Dec. 1.When the discount deadline falls on a holiday or the weekend, Florida law allows the deadline to be extended to the next business day for any payment delivered to an office,” the release explains.

Sarasota County Tax Collector Mike Moran does remind customers in the release, “If you are planning to visit an office on Monday, Dec. 1, appointments are highly recommended although not required.” Appointments may be scheduled at www.sctc.tax/appt, the release adds.

  • Payments may be placed in a 24-hour drop box, with checks payable to “Tax Collector Mike Moran.” They must be deposited by 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, the release stresses. Drop box locations are as follows: Downtown Sarasota at the Terrace Building entrance on Adams Lane; the main entrance of the Mid-County Office, which stands at 6100 Sawyer Loop Road in Sarasota; in Venice at the main entrance (facing U.S. 41) of the R.L. Anderson Administration Building, located at 4000 S. Tamiami Trail; and North Port, in the bypass lane of the utility payment drive-through lane.
  • Online — www.SarasotaTaxCollector.gov by 11:59 pm EST Sunday, Nov. 30; payment by eCheck involves no fee. A paid receipt can be printed immediately.
  • Mail — envelope postmarked by Saturday, Nov. 29, sent to 101 S. Washington Blvd., Sarasota FL 34236, with check payable to Tax Collector Mike Moran.

The release then explains that, given Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Nov. 17 announcement that all state offices would be closed an extra day for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Offices of the Sarasota County Property Appraiser and Tax Collector were to be closed Wednesday, Nov. 26, through Friday, Nov. 28. They will reopen with their regular hours on Monday, Dec. 1, the release adds.
