Historic Spanish Point will again be aflutter with fairies and fairy houses on Friday and Saturday, March 5 and 6, during its third annual Fairy House Festival, the attraction has announced.

The event will take place during regular museum hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 pm. on Sunday, a news release says”

Fairy Houses are small structures where fairies live in harmony with nature,” the release explains. Sticks, bark, dry grasses, pebbles, shells, feathers, seaweed, pinecones and nuts are among the natural materials used to make the houses, the release adds. Ranging from rustic to intricate “fairy mansions,” these whimsical habitats are built by anyone who wants to get out, enjoy nature and energize his or her creative juices, the release continues. The “houses” will be located throughout the 30-acre property for viewing by museum visitors, the release says.

The festival will include a competition for the best fairy house.

Admission to the event is included as part of the regular museum entry fees of $12 for adults; $10 for seniors; and $5 for children under age 12.

In addition to the fairy houses, the festival will feature musical performances, puppets, the Aerial Dragons, a costume parade, face-painting, crafts for children and enchanted garden walks, the release notes.

Historic Spanish Point is located at 337 N. Tamiami Trail in Osprey. For more information, call 966-5214.
