The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced that lane closures planned for the nights of Sept. 11 and Sept. 12, in conjunction with the construction of the final elements of the Clark Road diverging diamond interchange in Sarasota, have been delayed until next week.

The new schedule follows:

  • From 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, crews will close State Road 72/Clark Road eastbound between Interstate 75 and Gantt Road/Approach Road. Motorists are advised to follow posted detours; or, identify alternate routes.
  • From 11 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, to 5 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, crews will close S.R. 72/Clark Road eastbound and westbound between Gannt Road and Catamaran Drive/Approach Road.

In its most recent advisory about construction projects in Sarasota County — for the week of Sept. 8 through Sept. 14 — FDOT staff continued to report that the new diverging diamond interchange would be completed this summer.
