Insurance issues to be focus of presentation at Dec. 10 meeting of Siesta Key Condominium Council

Mike Angers of Brown and Brown agency to be featured speaker

The Siesta Key Condominium Council will conduct its first meeting of the season on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Siesta Key Chapel, the organization has announced.

The featured speaker will be Mike Angers of Brown and Brown Insurance in Sarasota who will discuss insurance topics of relevance to condominium associations, including how past hurricanes have an impact on policies and how wind and flood policies respond to catastrophic events, a news release says. Additionally, he will provide an update on legal decisions that will have an effect on Florida condominium policies, the release notes.

A question-and-answer session will follow his remarks, the release adds.

Among other items on the agenda will be an update on the federal lawsuit filed by Save Our Siesta Sand 2 (SOSS2) to try to prevent the dredging of Big Sarasota Pass to renourish the South Lido Key Beach; a report on a Siesta Key transportation study undertaken by a consultant hired by Sarasota County staff; an update on the Siesta Promenade project; an update on Dr. Gary Kompothecras’ plans for a hotel on Old Stickney Point Road; and the Condo Council’s Holiday Lighting Contest, which is taking place this month.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. at Siesta Key Chapel, which is located at 4615 Gleason Ave. on the north end of Siesta Key.
