Johnson has been with the agency since 2015; Mayer, since 2017
Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Creative Communications Specialist Doug Johnson has been promoted to Community Affairs manager, and Deputy Logan Mayer has been promoted to sergeant, assigned to the Patrol Bureau, Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman has announced.
Johnson was hired by the Sheriff’s Office in August 2015 to serve as creative communications specialist, a news release says. “In 2018, he received the agency’s Meritorious Achievement Award,” the release adds. Then, two years later, he was a nominee for Civilian Employee of the Year.
In 2025, Johnson was honored with “a Unit Citation as a member of the Community Affairs Section for his assistance with creating and developing the first Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Annual Block Party,” the release continues.
Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in moving image arts from the College of Santa Fe, the release adds.
In January 2017, Mayer began his career with the agency as a deputy in the Patrol Bureau, the release points out. After three years, he transferred to Investigations, “where he was assigned to the Special Investigations Section,” it says.
In 2023, Mayer joined the Tactical Unit, the release notes. He received a Unit Citation as a member of that unit, the release continues, and he received the Sheriff’s Office Combat Cross Award.
Mayer earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Florida Gulf Coast University, the release adds.
