The Library Foundation for Sarasota County has announced the election of two new members to its board of directors, effective as of July 1. “Alexandra Jupin and Mark Steinwachs will each serve three-year terms,” a news release notes.

“Jupin, a retired performing arts administrator, has devoted her personal and professional life to advocating for education, civil rights, and the arts,” the release points out. “She is a passionate library advocate” who brings more than two decades of nonprofit board service to the Library Foundation, the release adds.

Steinwachs is a writer and editor who has taught composition and creative writing, the release notes. He is a contributing editor for Story Magazine.

About his service on the Foundation board, Steinwachs says in the release, “Libraries have always provided a sanctuary for me. I can remember the exact shelves where I took down the books that would change my life. My hope is to offer that same opportunity to as many people as possible while also fostering strong communities in Sarasota.”

“I am delighted to welcome our new board members to the Foundation,” said Alisa Mitchell, executive director of the Library Foundation for Sarasota County, in the release. “Each brings unique expertise and is committed to supporting and advocating for Sarasota’s public libraries,” she added. “I’m so grateful for their dedication to the Foundation’s mission and for their passion to serve.”

“Since its founding in 2011, the nonprofit Library Foundation for Sarasota County has raised more than $8.5 million in private funds for the benefit of Sarasota County public libraries,” the release explains.
