The League of Women Voters of Sarasota County, which “is a nonpartisan, grassroots nonprofit dedicated to empowering voters and defending democracy,” has launched a new website, it announced this week — lwvsrq.org.

The initiative was “made possible by the generous support of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County,” a news release points out. The website “contains a wealth of information about the League and the educational resources” that it offers voters, the release adds.

In 2024, the League reached more than 260,000 local voters with its “Get Out The Vote Campaign,” which was fueled by more than 16,000 volunteer hours, the release notes.

“Given the ease of navigation that our new website offers, we are now positioned to offer our over 300+ members and the public a rewarding browsing experience,” the release says.

Funding for the project was provided by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County Walter Haskins Fund in memory of Stacey K. Haskins, the release notes.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County is a public charity founded in 1979 by the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council as a resource for caring individuals and the causes they support, enabling them to make a charitable impact on the community,” the release explains.
