The Manasota Beach Park boat ramp and parking lot will be closed for five months starting Monday, May 8, for a planned capital improvement project, Sarasota County has announced.

The project will include construction of a paved parking area with spaces compliant with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act, stormwater treatment areas, sidewalks and a boat wash area; removal of invasive and nuisance plants; and native vegetation installation. “Stormwater treatment improvements are expected to improve the water quality of the adjacent Lemon Bay,” a news release explains.

The project is expected to be completed in the fall, subject to weather and the availability of materials, the release notes. The nearest alternate public motorized boat launch areas are at Indian Mound Park, located at 210 Winson Ave. in Englewood; and Marina Park, located at 301 East Venice Ave. in Venice, the release points out.
