Families throughout the community are invited to join Music Compound members and staff for the music school’s annual Back to School Bash, which is planned for Saturday, Aug. 23, the school has announced.

The free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Music Compound, which stands at 775 Bell Road in Sarasota, a news release says.

During the Bash, “families will be able to enjoy a tour of Music Compound’s facility and meet the more than 30 team members who will be dedicated to making the day special for all attendees,” the release points out. Giveaways for guests, along with a drawing for a membership, also are planned, the release says. Pre-registration is required to participate in the drawing, it notes.

“Additionally, the music school will celebrate its first full year at its new, state-of-the-art facility, with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting,” the release adds.

“While we offer programs for all ages and skill levels, they are particularly beneficial for children and teens as they encourage team building, boost confidence, and build performance skills — all of which are valuable whether they aspire to be professionals in the field or not,” said Music Compound owner Jenny Townsend in the release. “As parents consider their options for school-year activities, we hope they will consider musical enrichment for their students at Music Compound,” Townsend added.

“Music Compound provides an environment to inspire, collaborate and educate children and adults in pursuit of their love of music,” the release explains. A sampling of youth-focused programs available at Music Compound includes homeschool options; Piano Jam, a piano group for ages 8 to 12; Kidz Rock (ages 4 to 7) and Junior Rockers (ages 8 to 11); musical theatre; the band program (live and performance-based); Intro to Music; and theory classes. “Lessons are available in instruments including piano, guitar, bass, drums, violin, ukulele and voice, among others, the release says.
