“The event, inspired by the glamour of the Roaring Twenties, will feature vibrant activities, Art Deco crafts, and hands-on fun for all ages,” the release adds. The celebration will be held at North Port Library, which stands at 13800 Tamiami Trail in North Port.

Attendees may take part in the following crafts and activities, the release notes:

  • Face painting — “Transform into a flapper or dapper gent with dazzling, era-inspired designs.”
  • Craft class — “Create vintage-style headbands and bow ties while exploring 1920s fashion.”
  • Ice cream-making demonstration — “Watch a live liquid nitrogen demonstration and enjoy a taste of the flash-frozen result. (Limited to the first 40 participants).”

“The North Port Library has been a cornerstone of education and community engagement for 50 years,” said Renee Di Pilato, director of the county’s Libraries and Historical Resources Department, in the release. “This celebration honors the vision and dedication of those who built and supported this invaluable resource,” she added.

The North Port Library opened in 1975 in a rented home with just 5,000 books, the release points out. “Today, it has grown into a 12,400-square-foot facility serving thousands of visitors annually. This milestone recognizes the community’s dedication and the collaborative efforts that have shaped the library’s success,” the release adds.
