Mission was to enhance public safety, agency says

On June 24, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) personnel executed a sweep of persons in the county with outstanding warrants, resulting in 21 arrests within 12 hours, the agency has reported.
“The mission was to enhance public safety by locating and apprehending wanted individuals through a coordinated, intelligence-led operation,” a news release explains. “The goal was to support victims of crimes and reinforce accountability,” the release adds.
Among the warrant charges were Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, Driving Without a License, Driving while License Suspended, Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, the release points out.
Members of the Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Narcotics Enforcement Team, K-9 Unit, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Team, Homeless Outreach Team, Tactical Unit, Traffic Unit, Mounted Patrol Unit, Agricultural Unit, Aviation Unit, and the Courts and Corrections Division assisted in the mission, the release says.
“Ongoing missions will remain vital to our continued commitment to community safety,” the release concludes.
