Public asked to report any information related to shooting death in Twin Lakes Park on Nov. 3

At 1:12 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office announced that it was investigating a shooting that had occurred at Twin Lakes Park in Sarasota.

“Two victims have been transported to local hospitals for medical treatment,” the release said.

One of those, a 17-year-old male, died from the injuries that he sustained, a follow-up news release reported; it was issued just before 9 a.m. on Nov. 3. The second victim was being treated for his injuries, that release added.

Twin Lakes Park is located at 6700 Clark Road in Sarasota. It is home to a variety of athletic facilities, and it also will be the site of construction of a new building that will house the offices of the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department. The park is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., its webpage says.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Section “is actively investigating this incident and may provide further information in the future,” the news releases noted.
