Road closures announced in preparation for downtown Sarasota Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11

Vehicles remaining in place at posted time will be towed, Police Department says

To facilitate the plans for the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Sarasota on Monday, Nov. 11, a number of street closures will be in effect, the Sarasota Police Department has announced.

The parade — which the City of Sarasota is hosting in conjunction with the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee — will begin at 10 a.m. The following road closures will be in effect on Monday, Nov. 11, a Police Department news release points out:

  • 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Main Street closed from U.S. 301 and U.S. 41.
  • 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Osprey Avenue closed from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard.
  • 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Pineapple Avenue closed from First Street to Ringling Boulevard.
  • 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Links Avenue closed from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard.
  • 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. — First Street closed from Pineapple Avenue to Central Avenue.
  • 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Central Avenue closed from Main Street to First Street.
  • 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Gulfstream Avenue closed from Cocoanut Avenue to McAnsh Square.

“Vehicles not removed by the posted time will be towed at the owner’s expense,” the release stresses. For information on towed vehicles, individuals may contact Upman’s Towing at 941-365-7084, the release adds.
