On June 15, Sarasota County Fire Chief Michael Regnier lifted the countywide recreational burn ban that was put into effect on April 21, the county announced.

The mandatory burn ban was planned to be in effect until weather conditions changed and the chances of wildfire were reduced, a news release points out. With seasonal rain patterns having begun, the release adds, fire officials recognize less of a threat of wildfires throughout Sarasota County.

Although the burn ban has been lifted, residents are urged to always be safe when dealing with fire and to always follow local, open burning ordinances and regulations, Regnier stresses in the release.
