On May 10, repairs began at Whitaker Gateway Park in Sarasota, with sections of curbing and the sidewalk along the parking area to be replaced, the City of Sarasota has announced.

The undertaking was expected to create limited interruptions for park users, a news release says. However, the City of Sarasota Parks & Recreation District has been implementing intermittent walkway closures, the release notes.

The park is located at 1455 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota.

Then, on Monday, May 17, the repaving of the parking lot will start, the release says. That project is expected to be completed by May 19, the release adds.

“[T]here will be little to no vehicular traffic allowed” in the park while construction crews are present, the release points out. Parking will be limited to permit holders only.

Nonetheless, Whitaker Gateway Park will remain open to pedestrians and bicycles, the release says.
