Members of the public are invited to attend Sarasota County Government’s Bay Fest on Saturday, March 7, during which county staff and county partners will celebrate this year’s theme, The Wonders of Water, staff has announced.

“This free, family-friendly event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Bay,” which stands at 1055 Boulevard of the Arts in downtown Sarasota, a news release says. “The event will be presented in collaboration with the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program and The Bay Sarasota,” the release notes.

“This year’s Bay Fest will feature hands-on activities and demonstrations highlighting Sarasota’s local waters and how to protect them,” the release explains. Among the activities planned will be the presence of food trucks, live music, “kayak rides around the mangrove bayou, an on-screen snorkel experience, and opportunities to learn about the dolphins that call Sarasota Bay home,” the release points out.

Free parking will be available around the site, the release notes. “Parking lots will be open along the Boulevard of the Arts” and in front of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, the Municipal Auditorium and the Blue Pagoda, it adds. “Attendees are asked to avoid parking in areas designated for the Sarasota Orchestra’s use, the release points out.
