Presentation made during conference of International Association of Assessing Officers
The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO), which is based in Kansas City, Mo., has announced that the Sarasota County Property Appraiser’s Office has achieved recertification of its Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration.
The Sarasota County Property Appraiser’s Office “first earned the certificate in 2012,” a news release notes. “[T]his required recertification is a demonstration of their continued commitment to best practices,” the release adds.
“IAAO’s Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration recognizes governmental units that adhere to accepted standards and integrate best practices in the workplace,” the release explains. “This challenging and rigorous program is a self-conducted, peer-reviewed evaluation of adherence to specific, accepted assessment administration and appraisal standards as defined in the IAAO publication Assessment Practices: Self-Evaluation Guide,” the release says.
The presentation of the re-certification came during a ceremony held as part of the IAAO 90th Annual International Conference on Assessment Administration, the release notes. The conference was conducted at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver in late August.
“IAAO’s Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration is an important recognition of industry professionals who strive to meet the highest standards in their line of work,” the release points out.
“IAAO is the leading nonprofit, educational and research association for individuals in the assessment profession and others with an interest in property valuation and taxation,” the release explains. “IAAO’s mission is to promote innovation and excellence in property appraisal, assessment administration and property tax policy through professional development, education, research, and technical assistance. IAAO currently serves approximately 8,000 members worldwide.”
