On May 1, the Mid-County Office of the Sarasota County Tax Collector celebrated its first anniversary, having opened on April 30, 2018, the Tax Collector’s Office has reported.

May 1 also marked the 35-year anniversary of Barbara Ford-Coates’ service as Sarasota County tax collector, a news release points out.

In celebrating accomplishments of the past year, Chief Deputy Tax Collector Sherri Smith noted in the release, “We assisted 91,000 walk-in customers, answered over 150,000 phone calls, and provided over 9,000 learner’s permit and driving tests.” She added that these achievements were possible “because of the exceptional staff [members] who provide exceptional service to their customers every day.”

The Mid-County Service Center was designed to bring Tax Collector services to a more central location within Sarasota County and to better serve South County residents, the release explains. “With ample parking and easy access from I-75, located just south of Clark Road,” the release continues, “this facility offers driving tests on a closed course, learner’s permit testing, vehicle titles and registrations, hunting and fishing licenses, and tax payment collection. An after-hours payment drop-box and a convenient drive-thru service are available, also.”

As the celebration came to a close, Ford-Coates noted, “We look forward to many more years of exceptional service.”
