Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) once again has received national recognition, earning top honors from Newsweek in the magazine’s 2025 rankings of America’s Best Hospitals for Specialized Care, SMH has announced.

The hospital has been named among the best hospitals in the United States “across five high-performing specialties,” as noted by Newsweek, a news release says:

“The specialty rankings are based on a comprehensive evaluation of hospital performance, including quality of care, patient outcomes, recommendations from medical professionals, and accreditations from national and international health organizations,” the news release explains.

“This latest recognition reflects SMH’s continued commitment to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care across a broad range of specialties,” the release points out.

“It’s an honor to have our teams recognized for their extraordinary work to provide the best care to our patients and community,” said David Verinder, CEO of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, in the release. “Whether it’s advanced cardiac procedures, complex orthopedic surgeries, or any other specialty services, the incredible SMH physicians, nurses, and health care professionals remain focused on improving lives through innovation, collaboration, and compassion,” he added in the release.

“As one of the leading public health systems in Florida, Sarasota Memorial combines cutting-edge technology with a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach to care,” the release points out. “SMH continues to be nationally recognized for dedication to excellence and its role as a trusted destination for specialized medical treatment in southwest Florida and beyond,” the release says.
