Free Wi-Fi has been made available on all buses and bus routes, Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) has announced.

“This new feature is aimed at enhancing the experience of riding a SCAT bus, by giving passengers access to social media, news and emails on their electronic devices,” a county news release points out.

“This will help keep people connected as they travel to their destinations,” said SCAT Director Rocky Burke in the release. “We previously offered Wi-Fi only on our express routes, but felt this was an important feature that all SCAT riders should be able to take advantage of,” he noted in the release.

In addition, SCAT will offer free rides on Election Day, Nov. 8, “to encourage voters to hit the polls and cast their ballots,” the release says.
