Six Sarasota County public libraries will be closed Friday, Dec. 11, for staff development as library employees attend a full-day training session, the county has announced.

Two libraries will remain open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day: Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Public Library at 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd. in Venice; and Gulf Gate Public Library, located at 7112 Curtiss Ave. in Sarasota, a county news release says.

“Items due Dec. 11 may be returned to drop boxes outside any county library that day,” the release adds. All libraries will reopen on Saturday, Dec. 12.

“This training session will bring together our Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources [Department] staff members to learn about new technologies, programs and polices and help us continue to provide the excellent customer service that our patrons expect,” said Public Services Manager Jennifer Perry in the release.
