With the 2017 World Rowing Championships just a few weeks away, the event’s local organizing committee has announced plans for spectator parking.

The competitions will begin Sept. 23 and end on Oct. 1.

Drivers will be instructed to park their vehicles in the grassy lot located to the north of Regatta Island and adjacent to the south end of the Mall at University Town Center, where the tent was located during the Circus Sarasota Winter Show, a news release says.

The address for that site is 201 University Town Center Drive, the release adds.

The fee will be $5 in cash per vehicle.

Once they have parked, spectators will proceed via a sidewalk to the venue, the release notes. Complimentary shuttle service will be provided to those with mobility issues, the release says.

Bicycle parking will be permitted at no charge at three different locations throughout Nathan Benderson Park, the release continues. Designated areas “will be clearly marked for patrons attending the event by bike,” the release says. Riding a bike inside the venue will be prohibited, it points out. Additionally, golf carts will not be allowed on the grounds.

The 2017 World Rowing Championships website (www.wrch2017.com) allows spectators to purchase their parking passes ahead of time. A daily pass is $5, and a nine-day pass is $45, the release points out. Online users should click the “Transport and Parking” link located under the “Spectators” tab. The passes will have a QR code, which will need to be printed and presented at the parking lot entrance, the release explains.
