Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding voters who choose to vote by mail in the May 9 municipal elections to complete and return their voted ballots promptly so the ballots reach the Supervisor of Elections Office no later than 7 p.m. on election night.

The City of North Port Special Election and the City of Sarasota Second Election will be held on May 9.

Ballots may be returned by mail or in person to any one of the following three elections offices, a news release points out:

  • Sarasota County Terrace Building, located at 2001 Adams Lane in Sarasota.
  • R.L. Anderson Administration Building, located at 4000 Tamiami Trail S. in Venice.
  • Biscayne Plaza, located at 13640 Tamiami Trail in North Port.

Turner also urges voters to read and follow the instructions included with vote-by-mail ballots to ensure their ballots are counted. Voters must complete and sign the ballot certificate envelope, he adds in the release, and the voter’s signature must match the signature on file in the voter registration database. A voter may update his or her signature by completing and submitting a voter registration application by May 2 to any of the above offices, the release notes.

Voters may track their vote-by-mail ballots at www.SarasotaVotes.com from the time their requests for a ballot are processed until the voted ballots are received by the elections office. “Just click on the ‘Vote by Mail’ icon on the home page, select ‘Track your Vote-by-Mail Ballot,’ and follow the easy directions,” the release says.

Voters who have questions may contact the Supervisor of Elections Office at 861-8600 or visit www.SarasotaVotes.com.
