Events planned for Sept. 22 and 23, in-person and via live-streaming
With Sarasota County voters being able to address three Florida constitutional amendments and two Sarasota County referenda on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot, the League of Women Voters of Sarasota County is sponsoring two free, public programs to help prepare citizens for marking their ballots.
Amendment 3 — What Would It Mean for Sarasota County? and What’s on Your Ballot? — Amendments and Referendums may be attended in person or viewed live or later, as recordings at lwvsrq.org, the nonprofit organization has announced.
The Amendment 3 — What Would It Mean for Sarasota County? program is being sponsored jointly by the League and the nonprofit investigative journalism organization Suncoast Searchlight, a news release notes. It will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Selby Public Library in downtown Sarasota, the release adds.
Panelists Holly Bullard of the Florida Policy Institute, Chief Scott Titus of the North Port Fire Rescue District, and Dave Bullock, former interim city manager of Sarasota, “will discuss how passage of Amendment 3 could affect funding for local services,” the release says. Stream the program here.
The What’s on Your Ballot? — Amendments and Referendums program will be presented by the League of Women Voters of Sarasota County Speakers Bureau. It will explain each ballot issue and what a “yes” or “no” vote would mean, the release points out. That program will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Gulf Gate Library, which stands at 7112 Curtiss Ave., near Palmer Ranch in Sarasota. Stream the program here.
