Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Turner and staff provide numerous means of submitting new requests

Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding voters who want to vote by mail (absentee) through 2026 to go ahead and submit their requests.
In accord with Section 101.62 of the Florida Statutes, “vote-by-mail ballot requests are valid for all elections through the end of the calendar year of the next regularly scheduled general election,” a news release from Turner’s staff explains. “That means that requests made before the November 5, 2024 General Election have expired,” the release stresses.
“This law has been in place for a few years now and my hope is that voters recognize that if they want to vote by mail, they need to renew after each general election cycle,” Turner said in the release. “The good news is that a voter can easily submit a new request that will last through the end of 2026,” he added.
Altogether, the Elections Office staff mailed more than 105,000 renewal notices to Sarasota County voters who voted by mail in 2024, the release points out.
A voter may submit a vote-by-mail ballot request in the following ways, the release notes:
- Online at SarasotaVotes.gov.
- By phone at 941-861-8618.
- By mail by sending a request form to P.O. Box 4194 Sarasota, FL 34230-4194.
- In person at elections offices in Sarasota, Venice and North Port.
Turner also pointed out in the release that registered Sarasota County voters may visit the My Voter Status page of SarasotaVotes.gov to review their voter information, including the status of their vote-by-mail requests.
“Since vote-by-mail requests expire after each general election cycle, it’s a good idea for voters to get in the habit of requesting mail ballots every two years if they wish to vote by mail,” Turner added in the release. “In Florida, voters can vote by mail, vote early in person or on Election Day, and I want to ensure that voters have easy access to their preferred method of voting.”
Voters with questions about the vote-by-mail ballot request process may call the Elections Office at 941-861-8618, the release says.
