The Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department will host the fifth annual Youth Spring Fishing Tournament on Saturday, May 14, at Nokomis Beach, the county has announced.

The event is for children ages 14 and younger, a news release says. Nokomis Beach is located at 100 Casey Key Road in Nokomis.

Registration will take place from 8 to 8:30 a.m., with the catch-and-release tournament following from 8:30 to 10 a.m., the release adds. “The cost is $1 per child, and parental supervision is required,” the release continues.

Each participant needs to bring a fishing rod and reel, but bait will be provided, the release notes. The presentation of raffle prizes and awards will follow the tournament. Refreshments also will be provided, the release says.

Participants may pre-register by calling Woodmere Park at 486-2780 or by visiting www.scgov.net/parks.
