All three candidates for the Florida House District 72 Special Election, set for Feb. 13, have been invited to a forum on Monday, Feb. 5, at the Gulf & Bay Club on Siesta Key.

The event is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Gulf & Bay Clubhouse, which is located at 5730 Midnight Pass Road. Parking will be available on-site and at the adjacent Wells Fargo Bank, a news release says. The Siesta Key Condominium Council, the Siesta Key Association and the Gulf & Bay Club are sponsoring the event, the release points out. Siesta Key is part of House District 72.

The candidates are Republican James Buchanan, Democrat Margaret Good and Libertarian Alison Foxall. Each will be given 10 minutes to present his or her platform, the release notes, and then 10 minutes will be provided for audience questions.

Gov. Rick Scott set the election after state Rep. Alex Miller of Sarasota resigned before the end of her first year in office. Miller cited family and work demands as her reasons for stepping down in September 2017. Miller is CEO of Mercedes Medical.
