Hour-long educational sessions to be held at historic Main Pavilion

The annual Sarasota County Beach University series will be held at Siesta Public Beach throughout March, county staff has announced.
The free, hour-long Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department programs will be held every Thursday at 9:30 a.m., “with assistance from local volunteers, to explore topics about the coastal environment,” a news release notes.
The programs will be conducted at the historic Main Pavilion within the beach park, which stands at 948 Beach Road on Siesta Key, the release adds.
The topics planned are as follows:
- March 6 —Water: It’s All Connected.
- March 13 — Sarasota’s Wild Beaches.
- March 20 —From Reefs to Trails: Protecting and Enhancing Our Coastal Environment.
- March 27 —Exploring Biology and Research Techniques for Florida Manatee Conservation.
“Bring a chair and enjoy an interactive, outdoor learning experience,” the release invites the public. “No registration is required, but seating is limited, the release points out.
