On Sunday, March 28, big trucks will be rolling back into Nathan Benderson Park for Big Truck Day, Sarasota County staff has announced.

Now in its 25th year, the event will be conducted in a drive-through format “for a safe and distanced experience, giving families a chance to learn more about the vehicles and trucks they see on the streets,” a news release explains.

The Easter Bunny also will be on-site, “distributing goodie bags at the end of the route,” the release notes.

All participants must remain in their vehicles throughout the event because of COVID-19 precautions, the release emphasizes. Pre-registration is required, as well.

Nathan Benderson Park is located at 5851 Nathan Benderson Circle, just off North Cattlemen Road near Interstate 75 and University Parkway. Entry to the event will be at the intersection of Cattlemen Road and World Champion Drive, near the park’s playground, the release says.

Registration for the event is free and open to all members of the public, the release adds. Participants will be able to enjoy Big Truck Day during their allotted time slots between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department and Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates Inc. (SANCA) are hosting the event, the release says.

To register, visit scgov.net/parks or call 941-861-PARK (7275). Registration will close by Friday, March 19, or when capacity has been reached, the release points out.
