At 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) will host a forum for the candidates vying for the District 4 seat on the County Commission.

Wesley Anne Beggs, Mike Cosentino, Al Maioand Lourdes Ramirez all have been invited to respond to questions posed by CONA members and the public, a news release says. “Please join us,” the release adds.

“Written questions may be submitted in advance or at the meeting for consideration to be included as time allows,” the release adds. Those queries will follow the questions posed by the moderator, the release points out.

“Qualified candidates for any scheduled local race are welcome to attend the social before the meeting in order to make contact with voters and to distribute literature and yard signs,” the release continues. Information about amendments and referenda that will appear on the fall General Election ballot also may be presented to attendees, so as to inform voters, the release adds.

Following the traditional half-hour social — beginning at 6:30 p.m. — the meeting will open with brief updates about current neighborhood issues, the release says. Among presenters will be Chris Bales on Arbour Lake Preserve, Ben Cannon on Bath and Racquet Club, Sura Kochman on Siesta Promenade, and Tom Matrullo on the Celery Fields, the release notes.

CONA holds its sessionsat the Sarasota Garden Club, which is located at 1131 Boulevard of the Arts in Sarasota. The building is at the intersection of Tamiami Trail, just south of the Municipal Auditorium. The parking area and the entrance are reached from Van Wezel Way.
