All business owners have until Monday, Sept. 30, to pay their 2019-2020 Sarasota County Business Tax, Sarasota County Tax Collector Barbara Ford-Coates is reminding the public.

“The county business tax is required if you are engaging in a business, profession or occupation located within Sarasota County,” Ford-Coates explained in a news release.

Any business that has not received a renewal notice or a new business that has not registered should contact the Tax Collector’s Office immediately at 861-8300, Option 3, or via email at Info@SarasotaTaxCollector.com, the release points out.

“The quickest and easiest way to pay is at www.SarasotaTaxCollector.com,” the release adds.

After the online payment has been completed, a business tax receipt can be printed immediately, the release notes.

Payments also may be made by mail or in person at any Service Center, Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Service Center locations follow:

  • Downtown Sarasota, located at 101 S. Washington Blvd. (entrance on Adams Lane).
  • Mid-County, located at 6100 Sawyer Loop Road (west of Interstate 75, just south of Clark Road).
  • Venice, located at 4000 S. Tamiami Trail.

In North Port, payments may be made at North Port City Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the release says.

Any county business tax that remains unpaid after Monday, Sept. 30, “will be delinquent and additional money will be due,” the release stresses.

Businesses in the cities of Sarasota, Venice and North Port and in the Town of Longboat Key also may be required to pay an additional city business tax, the release adds.
