Weekly segments to feature wide variety of topics, including information about crime trends
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has launched a new informational video series 10-8 TV, “featuring community content and an inside look at all things SCSO,” Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman has announced.
“Hosted and produced by the Community Affairs Office inside the agency’s television studio, 10-8 TV was inspired by the radio code ‘10-8,’” a news release explains. That code designates when a deputy is in service and available, the release adds. The video series represents ways in which the Sheriff’s Office “is available and in service to the citizens of Sarasota County 24/7/365,” the release points out.
“The program is a strategic way to enhance communication with community members and agency personnel,” the release notes. Weekly episodes will be informative and relevant, focusing on topics such as crime trends, event announcements, career opportunities and safety tips, the release says. Content within each episode will be no longer than 3 minutes, the release adds.
Segments will air every Friday on the agency’s YouTube channel and social media pages. The inaugural episode, which was shown on Sept. 10, can be found by visiting youtube.com/SarasotaSheriff.
“Keeping our community safe and informed is our top priority,” said Hoffman in the release. “We also recognize that in an agency of more than 1,000 people, communication is key, which is why 10-8 TV not only serves to inform our citizens but our employees as well.
“Don’t be surprised if you see us step outside our comfort zone, too,” Hoffman noted, adding that 10-8 TV “is a fun and informative tool that will continue to elevate our approach to community affairs and the way we do business.”
