Waste collection schedule changes planned
City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 25, and Tuesday, Dec. 26, in observance of Christmas, the city has announced. Offices also will be closed New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.
No garbage, recycling or yard waste will be picked up on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, a news release points out. Collections will be delayed by one day:
- The Monday collection will occur one day later, on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
- Tuesday collections will occur one day later, on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
However, Thursday and Friday collections will take place as usual, the release says.
Additionally, no garbage, recycling or yard waste will be picked up on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. Once again, collections will be delayed by one day, with the Monday pickup on Tuesday, Jan. 2, and the Tuesday collections on Wednesday, Jan. 3, the release adds.
Thursday and Friday collections will continue as usual the first week of January.
Hours of operation at recreational facilities will vary over the holiday period, the release notes:
- The Bobby Jones Golf Club,located at 1000 Circus Blvd., is open 365 days a year. On Christmas Eve (Sunday, Dec. 24), the Golf Shop will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Christmas Day (Monday, Dec. 25), the Golf Shop will be open from 6:30 to 11 a.m. On Tuesday, Dec. 26; Sunday, Dec. 31; and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, the Golf Shop will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Bobby Jones Golf Club will host the 10th Annual Reindeer Games on Christmas Day starting at 8:45 a.m. To register, call 365-GOLF (4653). Non-Reindeer Games golf hours will be reduced as follows: for 18 holes, golfers may play from 6:30 to 9 a.m.; for nine holes, 6:30 to 11 a.m.
- The Lido Pool, located at 400 Benjamin Franklin Drive, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, but it will be closed on Christmas Day. On New Year’s Eve, it will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., as well, but it will be closed on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2018.
- Robert L. Taylor Community Complex,located at 1845 John Rivers St., will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 24; Monday, Dec. 25; Tuesday, Dec. 26; Sunday, Dec. 31; and Monday, Jan. 1.
