Thanksgiving schedule announced for City of Sarasota

City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the city has announced.

The offices will reopen on Monday, Nov. 27, a news release says.

No garbage, recycling and yard waste will be picked up on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, the release emphasizes. Collections will be delayed by one day, it adds: The Thursday collection will occur one day later, on Friday, Nov. 24, and the Friday collection will occur one day later, on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Hours of operation at recreational and cultural arts facilities will vary, the release notes:

  • Bobby Jones Golf Club, located at 1000 Circus Blvd., is open 365 days a year. It will host the Ninth Annual Turkey Shoot, starting at8:45 a.m.on Thanksgiving Day. Non-event golf hours will be reduced. For 18 holes, the public may play between 6:30 and 9 a.m.; for nine holes, golfers may play from 6:30 to 11 a.m. The Golf Shop will be open from 6:30 to 11 a.m.
  • Lido Pool, located at 400 Benjamin Franklin Drive, will be open bothThursdayand Friday for regular business hours: 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
  • Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, located at 1845 34th St., will be closed Thanksgiving Day. Hours of operationon Friday will be 6 to 10 a.m.
  • Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall,located at 777 N. Tamiami Trail, will be closed Thanksgiving Day. The box office will reopenFriday for a Black Friday sale, with up to 50% off select shows, the release notes. The box office hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day; on Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving, the hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
