The third annual Lose Big, Win Bigger fitness challenge to help promote healthful lifestyles will kick off on Monday, Feb. 29, at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex (RLTCC) in Sarasota, the City of Sarasota has announced.

The Taylor Complex is located at 1845 34th St.

The eight-week fitness challenge will begin with a weigh-in at RLTCC, a news release says. “Over the coming weeks, participants will be challenged and encouraged to get fit and lose weight through diet and exercise,” the release adds.

Prizes — including a Garmin Vivosmart HR, a Ninja Blender package and a $150 gift card to Fit2Run — will be awarded to those who lose the largest percentage of body weight, the release notes.

The final “weigh-out” for the challenge will be held on Monday, April 25, the release adds.

The entry fee for the challenge is $25 per person; it includes a three-month full access pass to RLTCC, three complimentary fitness classes per week (Blend Zone, Zumba and yoga), gait analysis by Fit2Run and a 10-percent-off discount card to Fit2Run, the release continues.

Registration is open at the RLTCC front desk until the weigh-in begins, the release notes. Entry fees are due at the time of registration.

The 2015 Lose Big, Win Bigger champion, Paula Allen, lost 11.39 percent of her body weight during the challenge, the release points out.

Lose Big, Win Bigger is sponsored in part by Fit2Run.

RLTCC is owned and operated by the City of Sarasota.
