As the only institute of higher learning with a 100% acceptance rate, Beach University again will welcome students in March, Sarasota County has announced.

Free and open to the public, the hour-long outdoor environmental education sessions feature instructors and hands-on curriculum, a news release explains. “All courses relate to the coastal environment and how to best care for the ecology,” the release adds.

This year’s classes will cover oysters, marine pollution, red tide as it relates to public health and erosion control along the coastline, among other topics, the release says.

Beach University will be held each Wednesday during March. All classes will start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 10:30 a.m. at Siesta Public Beach, which is located at 948 Beach Road on Siesta Key, the release adds. The classes are held at the park’s main pavilion.

No registration is required, the release notes, but seating is limited.
