Administrative offices to be closed on June 19, with some other facilities’ hours of operation modified
City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, city staff has announced.
“Garbage/recycling and yard waste collection schedules will not be affected by the holiday,” a news release points out.
Further, the free Bay Runner trolley will operate at its regular hours, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., the release says.
A Juneteenth celebration, co-sponsored by the City of Sarasota, will take place on Saturday, June 22, from 1 to 7 p.m. on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way between Osprey Avenue and Pershing Avenue, the release notes. This will be a “free, family-friendly event, which will feature live music, food trucks, vendors and activities, the release adds.
Holiday hours of operation at City of Sarasota facilities will vary, as follows, the release continues:
- Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex, located at 2650 Waldemere St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Lido Pool, located at 400 Benjamin Franklin Drive, will be closed.
- Payne Park Tennis Center, located at 2050 Adams Lane,will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, located at 1845 34th St., will be open from 6 to 10 a.m.
- The box office of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, located at 777 N. Tamiami Trail, will be closed.
