Public art fountain Good Heart Place, located within the Paul N. Thorpe Jr. Park in downtown Sarasota, will be drained and temporarily turned off for refurbishment starting Monday, May 9, the city has announced.

The park will remain open to the public, a news release says.

The fountain will be cleaned, “with minor repairs to the whimsical sea life designs overseen by the original and local artist,” Nancy Goodheart Matthews, the release adds. The project is expected to be completed, and the water feature flowing again, by the end of the month, weather permitting, the release notes.

Good Heart Place is included in the city’s extensive public art collection, the release points out.
