Two new members have joined the board of directors of the Library Foundation for Sarasota County, the nonprofit organization has announced: Alison Gardner and Leslie Pemberton.

With 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, Gardner serves as founder and portfolio manager of Sage Advisors LLC, a news release says. Pemberton is retired from the field of quality and operating excellence, having handled that work on a global basis for Bank of America, Sonoco and Kennametal, the release adds.

Each brings unique professional and board leadership experience to her role with the Library Foundation, the release notes, as well as “a commitment to enhancing and sustaining Sarasota County’s public libraries.”

Gardner and Pemberton were elected to three-year terms effective as of July 1, the release points out.

“I am delighted to welcome our new board members to the Foundation,” said Library Foundation board President Kat Wingert in the release. “I’m grateful for their dedication to the Foundation’s mission and for their passion to serve,” Wingert added.

The mission of the Library Foundation for Sarasota County is to champion strong public libraries, support innovation and help to extend the library system’s reach for everyone in Sarasota County,” the release explains. “Since its founding in 2011, the nonprofit Library Foundation for Sarasota County has raised more than $8 million in private funds for the benefit of Sarasota County public libraries,” the release notes.
