Session to be held at Jacaranda Library in Venice
On Tuesday, Aug. 11, the next meeting of the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) will focus on the state’s Live Local Act, the nonprofit organization has announced.
As of July 30, a news release says, 18 Live Local Act project applications had been submitted to Sarasota County Government staff, “including proposals on Siesta Key, in Venice, and other communities throughout the county. Whether you live in the rural areas, on the Barrier Islands, or in southern Sarasota County, this state law could have a significant impact on future development.”
The release explains, “The state’s Live Local Act allows qualifying projects to be approved administratively by county staff rather than through the traditional County Commission public hearing process. Depending on the location, the Live Local Act may allow increased density and building heights beyond local standards, potentially changing the character of surrounding neighborhoods.”
“Whether you have been following the Live Local Act or are hearing about it for the first time, this [Aug. 11] presentation will provide the information you need to understand one of the most important land-use issues facing Sarasota County,” the release adds.
“Everyone is welcome” to attend the meeting, the release says.
The session will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Youth Activity Room of the Jacaranda Library, which stands at 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd. in Venice.
