For the third year, the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department, the Baltimore Orioles and the Sarasota Film Festival have partnered to bring the family-friendly Howl-O-Ween Movie Night Spooktacular to Ed Smith Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 14, the county has announced.

The event is open to all ages, a county news release notes. An adult must accompany children under the age of 14, the release points out.

The left field gate will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, with children’s Halloween-themed games and activities scheduled in the concourse and near the outfield wall. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to the event so they can participate in a costume parade around the bases, the release adds. The parade will be led by the Oriole Bird at 6:40 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the film Monsters, Inc. will be broadcast on the outfield video board, the release continues. All gates will close following the film, at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Families are encouraged to bring blankets to spread on the outfield, from which they may watch the movie, or they may enjoy viewing the film from ballpark seating.

Attendees also are asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the All Faiths Food bank, the release adds.

Concessions will be available for purchase, the release says. Only sealed plastic water bottles will be permitted into the park. Coolers, outside food and lawn chairs will not be allowed, the release adds, and strollers and high heels will not be permitted on the field.

Free parking will be available in the stadium’s east parking lot, the release notes.
