Finisher ribbons to be awarded, with prizes available for completion of four runs
From June 6 through July 26, the Kids’ Summer Beach Runs will take place once again on Siesta Public Beach and North Brohard Beach, Sarasota County’s Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department has announced.
New Balance of Sarasota and Sarasota Crew are collaborating with county staff on the events, a news release notes.
The 1-mile runs are designed to encourage youngsters and families to engage in healthful activities together, the release points out.
The schedule for the runs is as follows:
- Tuesdays, from June 6 through July 25, at Siesta Beach, located at 948 Beach Road on Siesta Key. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. near the playground in the county park. The runs will start at 6:30 p.m.
- Wednesdays, from June 7 through July 26, at North Brohard Beach, located at 1400 S. Harbor Drive in Venice. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. near the Venice Fishing Pier. Each run will start at 6:30 p.m.
“No runs are scheduled for Tuesday, July 4, at Siesta Beach, or Wednesday, July 5, at North Brohard Beach,” the release points out.
Each child who participates in a run will receive a finisher ribbon, the release notes. Those who complete four runs will receive a free T-shirt, a free child’s meal coupon for Gecko’s Grill & Pub, and a 50% off coupon for children’s New Balance shoes, the release adds. The runs may be completed at either location.
