Free events begin at 6:30 p.m., with registration at 5:30 p.m.
The annual Kids’ Summer Beach Runs will be held once again on Siesta and North Brohard beaches throughout June and July, Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources staff has announced.
The 1-mile fun runs will be offered as a means of encouraging children and their families to participate together in healthful activities during the summer, a news release points out.
The free Kids’ Summer Beach Runs are scheduled as follows:
- Tuesdays, June 4 through July 30, at Siesta Beach, which stands at 948 Beach Road on Siesta Key.
- Wednesdays, June 5 through July 31, at North Brohard Beach, which is located at 1400 S. Harbor Drive in Venice.
No runs are scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, at Siesta Beach or Wednesday, July 3, at North Brohard Beach, the release notes.
Registration for each run will begin at 5:30 p.m., the release adds. The site at Siesta Public Beach will be near the playground; for Brohard Beach, it will be near the Venice Fishing Pier. The runs will start at 6:30 p.m. at both locations, the release says.
Each participant will receive a finisher ribbon, the release continues. Every child who finishes four runs wll receive a free T-shirt, a free child’s meal coupon for Gecko’s Grill & Pub, and a coupon for a child’s pair of New Balance shoes, the release points out.
“The runs can be completed at either location,” the release notes.
Kids’ Summer Beach Runs are presented by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, New Balance of Sarasota, and Sarasota Crew, the release continues. Additional sponsors are the Florida Department of Health-Sarasota, Friends of Sarasota County Parks, Gecko’s Grill & Pub, Manasota Track Club, Sharky’s on the Pier and Siesta Beach Eats.
