Starting Saturday, Jan. 9, the City of Sarasota Parks & Recreation District’s Payne Park Tennis Center will be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the district has announced.

The facilities also are open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Reservations are required in advance, either online or by phone, Parks & Recreation staff is reminding the public. Additionally, a news release points out that the showers, lockers and the Court 13 open area remain unavailable as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Further, the release says, face coverings are required when people are entering and leaving the facility.

The Payne Park Tennis Center is located at 2050 Adams Lane in downtown Sarasota. It is a municipal facility open to the public. All players wanting to play tennis are welcome, the release adds.

“We are NOT a club and do NOT have memberships,” the release emphasizes. “We offer an amazing opportunity to enjoy tennis on 12 Hard Tru courts in fabulous downtown Sarasota, at an economical price,” the release says.
