Property tax payments due by March 31, or they will become delinquent, with penalties added

Various options available for making payments

Property owners with unpaid 2022 taxes are able to take advantage of various payment options to avoid additional charges before taxes become delinquent on April 1, Sarasota County Tax Collector Barbara Ford-Coates is reminding the public.

“The quickest and easiest way to pay is at www.SarasotaTaxCollector.com,” Ford-Coates explained in a news release. “After the online payment is complete, a receipt can be printed immediately,” she pointed out.

Online payments must be made by 11:59 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, March 31, she emphasized in the release.

Other payment options are as follows:

  • In a 24-hour drop box at any location — downtown Sarasota (101 S. Washington Blvd.), Mid-County (6100 Sawyer Loop Road in Sarasota), Venice (4000 S. Tamiami Trail) and North Port City Hall (4970 City Hall Blvd.).

Checks only will be accepted in the drop boxes, the release stresses, adding “please do not place cash in the drop box.”

“The penalty for missing the deadline is no small matter,” the release emphasizes. “Accounts unpaid as of April 1st are delinquent,” it points out, so a penalty will be added. “On May 1st, additional fees are charged and accounts are advertised pursuant to Florida law,” the release further notes. “If the taxes remain unpaid, the amount due will increase substantially on June 1st.”
