Registration open for Gulf Coast Games for Life

Events to be conducted in January and February 2020

Registration is open for the 31st Annual Gulf Coast Games for Life, which will take place in January and February 2020 at locations throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties, Sarasota County has announced.

The 2020 Gulf Coast Games for Life events are open to amateur athletes 50 years and older as of Dec. 31, 2020, a news release explains. The games are a qualifying event for the Florida Senior Games State Competition, which serves as a qualifier for the 2021 National Senior Games. The latter will be held in Fort Lauderdale, the release adds.

Gulf Coast Games for Life consists of 19 events, beginning with a 5K road race on Jan. 18, 2020 and continuing from Feb. 1 through Feb. 9, the release notes. Other competitions will involve basketball shooting, bowling, golf, pickleball and shuffleboard, the release points out.

Events will be conducted in Sarasota County, Manatee County and the City of North Port.

A one-time registration fee of $12 is required, with an extra $3 to be paid for each event, the release explains. Some events may require a facility fee, as well.
